When it comes to landscaping a newly constructed home, especially one perched on a mountaintop, the process is as much about preparation as it is about design.
Before the first plant was placed or the sod was rolled out, a tremendous amount of work went into prepping this site. The untouched land was cluttered with construction debris, rocks, and overgrown weeds, all of which needed to be cleared before we could start the real transformation.
The first challenge was cleanup—removing everything from concrete blocks to tangled weeds.
But the real work began with grading the terrain to ensure proper water runoff and erosion control. On a mountaintop, managing erosion is crucial, and our team took extra care to stabilize the soil, laying the groundwork for a sustainable landscape.
Once the land was prepped, we moved on to sowing grass and installing sod. These steps were vital to establishing a lush, green foundation that would thrive in the challenging environment.
To secure the steep banks and reduce the need for future maintenance, we introduced Binca plants, known for their robust root systems that help hold the soil in place. This approach not only controls erosion but also eliminates the need for future mulching, making the landscape as low-maintenance as it is beautiful.
By addressing the challenges of the site head-on, from cleanup to erosion control, we were able to create a landscape that not only enhances the beauty of the new home but also stands the test of time.
